Our mission is to insure public safety by CARE, CUSTODY AND CONTORL of
our inmate population and offer a chance for inmates to rehabilitate themselves.
To help reduce recidivism and allow them a chance to be a productive member of society.

The Union Parish Detention Center is run by the Police Jury of Union Parish.

The Union Parish Detention Center is a 380 bed facility which houses adult male and female inmates.
We house federal and parish pre-trial inmates and sentenced inmates,
serving parish jail sentences or hard labor sentences (D.O.C.).

Serving as the booking/holding facility for various law enforcement
agencies within Union Parish and state law enforcement agencies.

Sentenced inmates who meet acceptable state, D.O.C. guidelines are assigned work
inside the facility and for public agencies within the parish. These work
assignments allow inmates to repay their debt to society.

We have an adult education program that allows inmates to receive a GED,
teaches work and life skills for re-entry into society.  We also have
anger management classes, AA and NA programs.
